Patriot Viper Steel 32GB 3000 MHz DDR4 RAM Review: Well Steeled
Today we are reviewing Patriot’s Viper Steel DDR4 RAM, one of the most important components in our Sliger SM560 build. This memory is among Patriot’s best DDR4 RAM and has a lower profile than most RGB memory which makes it ideal for ITX builds. In addition, the gunmetal gray color scheme of the Viper Steel will easily fit in to most custom builds.
Unboxing, Design & Initial Impressions
Here’s the front of the box where you’ll see your first glimpse of the Viper Steel RAM. We received the 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 kit. It runs at 3000 MHz.
The back of the box has a brief product description in several languages. Also, Patriot’s various social media account names can be seen here.
Hiding behind the included Viper stickers are the two 16GB DIMMs.
Once illuminated, you can see the Viper Steel DIMMs in their full glory. They feel great in the hand and have nice shiny metal texture. Patriot did a great job designing these RAM sticks.

You can see the Viper shining on the top stick here. This RAM is a perfect example that you don’t need RGB lighting on RAM for it to look interesting and complement a high-end system. The Viper Steel is minimalistic, and we love it!

Performance & Stability
The Viper Steel starts out with a base frequency of 2133 MHz and timings of 15-15-15-36. We used the XMP profile which ups the frequency to 3000 MHz and the timings to 16-18-18-36, the voltage used was 1.35V.
We had no stability issues using our ASRock Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac motherboard and i7-8700K CPU combination with this RAM and its XMP profile.
True to its name, the Viper Steel performed flawlessly during intense gaming, video editing and multitasking situation.
RAM stability is one of the most vital things to consider when purchasing a high-performance kit and Patriot’s attention to this ultra-important detail deserves praise.
Conclusion
Compatible with both Intel and AMD platforms, the Viper Steel is a versatile and great looking RAM kit. With its gunmetal steel heat spreader and sleek looks, the Viper Steel will look great in any build but stand out even more in lighter themed builds. The performance was as stated with no stability problems, a key distinction as many RAM kits state certain speeds but the real-world performance is not even close. If you only need 16GB of RAM, the speed of Patriot’s 16GB kits can go up to 4400 MHz!
Backed by a lifetime warranty, you can’t go wrong with the Patriot Viper Steel RAM!
