Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse Review: Simple Yet Refined
The Logitech G Pro Wireless is considered by many one of the best gaming mice available. This comes as no surprise since Logitech has always been known to make stellar computer peripherals, especially mice! Looking at G Pro Wireless, it doesn’t necessarily stand out when compared to Logitech’s previous wireless offering, the G903. However, it performs just as well, if not better. The G Pro Wireless is extremely light, features flawless wireless performance and one of the best mouse sensors on the market. These features alone make the G Pro Wireless an incredible choice for gamers, especially FPS players.
Unboxing
The G Pro Wireless comes in a black hard box that does an excellent job at keeping the mouse protected during shipment. The front of the box displays a large image of the G Pro Wireless and basic Logitech branding.
The back of the box displays the some of the mouse features in glossy black font and “Play to Win” in Blue and white.
The left side of the box displays five esports teams with players that use the G Pro Wireless in tournaments (at the time of manufacturing).
The right side of the box displays key features and specifications.
In the box, you’ll find the G Pro Wireless, a USB receiver and extender, 4 detachable buttons, charging cable, manual, and a Logitech sticker.
Design
The G Pro’s design is quite simple, which in my opinion is a good thing! This allows it to be extremely light at only 80 grams. The G Pro is made from matte plastic and has a single RGB zone on the “G” logo. The G Pro Wireless is relatively small measuring 4.92 x 2.50 x 1.6 inches (126 x 63 x 40 mm). However, its size will still support palm and claw grips for the vast majority of hand sizes. The G Pro Wireless is completely symmetrical and features and ambidextrous design. It has a total of 4 buttons, two on each side of the mouse and a clickable scroll wheel.
Even though the G Pro Wireless features an all-plastic design, it feels quite dense and sturdy. The feet are decent and slide well enough. Although, we believe they are a bit thin and can result in possible scratching when using thicker mouse pads.
The G Pro Wireless has 4 side buttons, 2 on each side of the mouse. The side buttons are well placed in the middle of the mouse allowing most users to easily reach them with their thumbs. Although the G Pro Wireless features 4 buttons, they are part of the ambidextrous design, allowing both right and left-handed users to have 2 thumb buttons. However, all 4 buttons are usable at the same time. It is just hard to press the additional 2 buttons with either your pinky or ring finger.
The G Pro Wireless features a notched mouse wheel featuring 24 steps. This is a typical mouse wheel that functions as expected. We wished the G Pro Wireless featured an unlockable wheel for infinite scrolling like the G502 but realize it’s likely absent to decrease total mouse weight.
Overall, the build quality is great as we came to expect from Logitech. The G Pro Wireless features a simple design, but it is all you’d need in a competitive gaming mouse.
Hero Sensor
The G Pro Wireless features the Hero sensor, which is arguably one of the best mouse sensors in the market. On its initial release, it featured a DPI range from 100 to 16,000. However, Logitech has recently updated the sensor to max out at a whopping 25,600 DPI, not that anyone should be using a DPI setting anything close to that. More importantly, the HERO sensor has no smoothing or acceleration throughout its DPI range, which is extremely important for gaming allowing your mouse movements to always be consistent.
The most impressive feature of the HERO sensor is its energy efficiency. The G Pro Wireless features a relatively small battery, so it can be a light as it is. However, it can last for up to 50 continuous hours with the RGB lights off, which is truly impressive!
Conclusion
The G Pro Wireless is an incredible mouse! It is extremely light, features one of the best sensors on the market, and supports up to 50 hours of gameplay during a single charge. Gaming mice comparisons are difficult since it often comes down to personal preference. Our previous experience with Logitech mice specifically has been with everything from the G500s to the MX Master series and they all have their benefits. The G Pro Wireless fits in a category of its own as a highly accurate gaming mouse with a minimal design that also accommodates several side buttons for macros, etc.
However, we can say that the G Pro Wireless is definitely a mouse you should consider if you are a competitive gamer looking for a premium mouse. It has impressed us and is among the best in its class. We highly recommend the Logitech G Pro Wireless gaming mouse!
