Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wi-Fi Motherboard Review: Best Ryzen 3000 ITX Board

With the launch of AMD’s new Ryzen 3000 processors, a new set of X570 motherboards has been released by Gigabyte. The Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WiFi motherboard is the vendor’s lone small form factor model in its X570 lineup and you can tell Gigabyte went all out for their little ITX board. At its current price tag of $219, the Aorus Pro WiFi offers a variety of features including 8-phase power delivery, two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface, and a Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec.

Unboxing & Features

The box contains Gigabyte’s usual Aorus branding, which represents its high-end gaming lineup.

The back of the box contains much more detailed information including all its key features such as PCIe 4.0 support, WiFi 6, RGB fusion 2.0 and many others.

The motherboard comes covered in anti-static wrap and secured in anti-static Styrofoam.

In the box:

The board is very attractive with its black/silver design and Aorus branding. It includes two DDR4 memory slots that support up to 64GB of RAM and two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, one of which is cooled by the X570 heatsink that includes a small fan; the second slot is present on the back of the PCB.

We were expecting the heatsink fan to be loud and annoying as has been the case in past experiences with motherboard cooling fans.

However, the fan is barely audible, likely due to superior quality parts used by Gigabyte.

The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI contains a single full length PCIe 4.0 x16 port reinforced with steel which enhances the look and quality of the board while also providing additional support for heavier graphics cards.

The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI contains 2 PWM fan headers. The board also contains 2 LED headers which allow you to control all RGB devices with the Gigabyte RGB fusion software.

The Rear I/O includes:

The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI comes with an integrated base plate which provides durability and firmness to the board. Also, it contains an integrated I/O plate, making installation to a case that much easier.

The onboard audio on this board also stands above the rest. It uses the Realteck ALC1220-VB HD audio codec which can detect impedance from each specific head-worn audio device, preventing low volume or audio distortion. This coupled with the high-end audio capacitors used in the motherboard results in great sound quality when listening to music or playing games. We found audio quality to be excellent for an on-board solution during our testing.

Another great addition to this Aorus board is the new Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax +BT5 modules. This provides support for the brand new WiFi 6 technologies which in turn provides speeds up to 2.4 Gbps over a wireless connection. Moreover, Bluetooth 5 provides 4x the range over BT4.2 with even faster transmission.

If you prefer a wired connection, Gigabyte also has you covered. The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI also provides Intel GBE LAN with cFosSpeed, a network traffic management application that improves network latency and aids in maintaining low ping in order to improve responsiveness in crowded LAN environments.

BIOS

Gigabyte’s BIOS has come a long way over the last couple generations. This iteration of their BIOS is very user-friendly. It has a black background with orange accents and white lettering, which is consistent with the AORUS brand.

The Easy mode of the BIOS offers great functionality and is quite informational. On the left, it displays the motherboard type, BIOS version, CPU, RAM, and storage information. Towards the middle, it displays CPU frequency, temperature and voltage as well as memory frequency and voltage, along with PCH and VRM temperatures.

Advanced mode includes a multitude of other options. It includes headings labeled: Favorites, Tweaked, Settings, System Info, Boot and Save and Exit.

Overall, we were impressed with the improved Gigabyte BIOS. All menus and sub-menus are located where expected. It is easy to navigate and yet very efficient! A detailed overclocking guide featuring this board will be published later.

Performance & Overclocking

Enthusiasts will be excited to know that the X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI has 8-phase power delivery using an Infineon TDA21472 70A MOSFET in a 6+2 configuration. This compact yet powerful PWM design does a great job at delivering constant, clean power to the motherboard’s components. During our testing with the AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, we were able to overclock it with ease to 4.3GHz on all cores at 1.375 core voltage.

The heatsink used to cool the board’s VRM does a great job even under overclocked conditions. Gigabyte also states that this board will support XMP profiles up to 4400MHz. In our build we used ADATA’s Spectrix D60G RAM rated at 3200MHz which worked flawlessly.

Conclusion

The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI is a great choice for gamers and PC enthusiasts that have recently upgraded to AMD’s new Ryzen offerings and are looking for a small form factor X570 ITX board.

With support for WiFi 6, PCIe x16 GEN 4, 2x GEN 4 M.2 and a great audio solution combined with its overclocking friendly design, the X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI rises above the competition especially at its current price of $219. We highly recommend X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI to anyone building a small form factor PC with a Ryzen 3000 series processor.
