ADATA XPG Gammix S11 Pro 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD Review: Bloody Beast
We were excited when we heard that ADATA would be sending out the XPG Gammix S11 Pro 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD for review. If you haven’t heard of ADATA, they are a fantastic company that specializes in computer hardware including RAM and SSDs. Their XPG Gammix S11 Pro is one of their best NVMe based drives and its striking design is targeted towards gamers. It’s the first M.2 drive with a heatsink we’ve reviewed, and its bold design is backed up by its stellar performance.
Unboxing & Design
The XPG Gammix S11 Pro arrives in a small black box with a cutout on the front to show off the M.2 SSD in its clear plastic container. The exterior of the box has the XPG branding as well as the capacity of the drive and a few features such as 3D NAND, NVMe version 1.3 and SLC caching.
The back of the box displays a few supported features in several languages. A 5-year warranty badge is present, along with a QR code for more information.
Upon removing the XPG Gammix S11 Pro 512GB from its box, the beautiful red and black heatsink is the main focal point the SSD. In fact, it completely covers the drive as it should, but you look carefully you will see that ADATA chose a black PCB which looks great!
The back of the SSD shows off the entire black PCB as well as a product information sticker which has the serial number, capacity of the drive, etc.
Performance
With stated read/write speeds of up to 3500/3000MB respectively, the XPG Gammix S11 Pro approaches the venerable WD Black SN750 in terms of raw performance and these are very impressive numbers to be sure. If you are purchasing any NVMe 1.3, PCIe x4 drive, you should expect strong performance numbers but, in some cases, manufacturers aren’t able to deliver real world performance that even comes close to their drives’ rated speeds. ADATA however, delivered in spades. Our 512GB version tested around 3466.5/2123.4MB read/write speeds which are phenomenal for an SSD and can be further improved upon if you opt to purchase the 1TB version.
However, for anything from high-end video editing to gaming, the 512GB version will not disappoint. We’ve tested it for several months now with extensive daily use and it hasn’t been anything but impressive and reliable! In any case, ADATA includes a lengthy 5-year warranty which is highly encouraging and shows how confident they are in their SSD and its endurance over time. Our 512GB version is rated for a respectable 320TBW and the 1TB version jumps to 640TBW.
Conclusion
The ADATA XPG Gammix S11 Pro 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD is an excellent drive that is not only well-made but looks fantastic and will fit in nicely with any red/black themed custom computer build. ADATA has proven that they are a strong contender in the ever growing NVMe SSD space and their XPG GAmmix S11 drive certainly deserves a chance to be the next SSD in your system!
An extremely solid 5-year warranty backed by excellent performance stats in real world tests, give us the confidence and evidence to highly recommend the XPG Gammix S11 Pro SSD!
